Santa Barbara Jail Mugshots Law
California law supports public access to core arrest and booking facts, but that does not mean every Santa Barbara County jail mugshot must be posted online. Government Code 7923.610 requires state and local law enforcement to make public core arrest information, such as name, physical description, arrest and booking time, arrest location, factual circumstances, bail, custody or release location, and charges, holds, or warrants unless a safety or investigative exception applies.
Booking-photo law is more limited. Penal Code 13665 limits law enforcement social-media posting of booking photos for nonviolent arrests, with exceptions such as fugitive or threat concerns, court order, or urgent law enforcement circumstances. It also includes removal rules. Civil Code 1798.91.1 bars a person or entity that publishes booking photos from soliciting or accepting payment to remove, correct, modify, or refrain from publishing a booking photo.

Santa Barbara Mugshot Public Limits

Santa Barbara Mugshot Removal
Removal depends on the source of the photo and the legal status of the record. If the photo is on an official Sheriff channel, contact the agency or use the records process to ask about correction, removal, or restricted access. If the issue is that the arrest did not result in conviction, California Penal Code 851.91 may allow an eligible person to petition to seal the arrest record. Sealing is a court process, not a simple website edit.
Juvenile records are different. Welfare and Institutions Code 827 generally keeps juvenile court and juvenile police records confidential, with access limited to authorized people or juvenile court order. A juvenile booking photo should not be expected through ordinary roster or public request channels.

Santa Barbara Warrant Photos

Santa Barbara Federal Mugshot Limits
Federal custody in Santa Barbara County is separate from county jail custody. FCI Lompoc I and FCI Lompoc II are Federal Bureau of Prisons facilities for federal sentenced inmates, and they are searched through the BOP Inmate Locator, not the Sheriff's roster.
